TELEGRAM. The Governor of Hong Kong to the Secretary of
State for the Colonies

26875 with reference to your telegram 12th June I have
examined person named and I am prepared to accept
him provided you are satisfied that all interests of
Reuter Brockelmann and Company in the Agency of the Texas Oil Co(to) (for) Hong Kong and South China have been absolutely determined and on condition that neither Schluter nor Reuter Brockelmann may be appointed subagent at Canton and that if and when such a subagency is appointed it shall be a British
firm. Pending decision I shall allow Cheetham
to deal with large cargo arriving to-morrow on con- dition that he employs as subagent in Canton to deal with portion of the cargo 700 for which there is no
storage accommotion in Hong Kong the branch in Canton of the firm of Shewan Tomes and Company, Cheetham is prepared to accept this arrangement.
